Green coffee extract is an extract of unroasted, green coffee beans. It is used in the Swiss Water Process for decaffeinating coffee. It has afterward been used as a weight-loss supplement and as an ingredient in new weight-loss products but its efficacy and mechanism of pretense have been controversial.
There is tentative evidence of weight-loss benefit; however, the environment of the evidence is poor. In 2014, one of the primary trials showing help was retracted and the company that sponsored the study, Applied Food Sciences, was fined by the Federal Trade Commission for making baseless weight-loss claims using the flawed study.

The evaluation noted that potential adverse effects of both hasty and long-term consumption had not nevertheless been investigated thoroughly, and that the number of studies performed upon humans has for that reason far been limited.
